FAQs - Law Firms
How will my law firm appear in the search results?
You will appear in any search results where you are one of the 30 law firms nearest to the postcode entered in the search, in a practice area you have included in your details. Users can also search for your law firm by name. Where you appear in the search results depends on the type of entry you have chosen for your firm. "Featured" entries give the most information about a firm and appear at the top of the search results, followed by "Profiled" entries, then "Essential" entries.
What information can I include in each type of entry?
The full details are shown on the How to Join page but here is a summary of the three types of entry that you can have. The most detailed entry is the Featured entry which includes all your contact details, practice areas, link to your web site, and a detailed profile provided by you of your firm. In addition, you can add other information such as documents, white papers you have produced, news items etc. It is the only entry that you can update whenever you like.
A Profiled entry gives all contact details, practice areas, link to your web site and a short profile provided by you of the firm. The Essential entry is a basic entry offering only general contact details and details of practice areas.
Can I change the details given in my entry at any time?
Yes, if you choose the "Featured" entry option. With this option, you will have a secure password-protected log-in area on the site where you can update and change your details on your entry.
Can I have more than one office included on the site?
Yes. A law firm can add as many offices as they like as separate entries but there is a small charge for any law firm wanting more than 5 offices on the site. If a law firm has more than one office it can use the separate profiles for each office to, for example, identify specific practice areas in specific offices, or emphasise that the law firm has a network of offices covering the same practice areas and achieve more search results for specific local areas.
How are we protected from fraudulent, spiteful or malicious reviews?
When a consumer review is submitted, we check with the law firm that the client is genuine. If the client is genuine, the comments supplied to us by the client are then sent to the law firm or local solicitor. It is the law firm's decision whether they choose to include the comments on the site and/or whether they wish to act on the written comments sent to them. Ultimately, the law firm will be able to monitor and control the written comments going onto the site.
Law firms do not have control over their Legal Stars ratings which will be posted independently on the site but Legallybetter has strict procedures in place to ensure that all reviews and ratings are genuine. Please see next question.
How does Legallybetter verify a consumer has actually used a law firm being reviewed?
Legallybetter is committed to ensure genuine reviews and ratings are represented on the site through Legal Stars and consumer comments. It is very important to Legallybetter that feedback can be verified for future consumers and all law firms present on the site. There are security monitors in place to review consumer reviews and comments (please refer to the terms and conditions) allowing Legallybetter to protect the consumer, the law firm and the site's integrity. In addition, Legallybetter will assess every five reviews to monitor trends and highlight them to law firms if required. Legallybetter will take swift action if any evidence of misuse is identified.
How is the site being marketed and promoted?
A national marketing and promotional campaign plus a search engine optimisation programme to place the site at
the top of search engine results and links with numerous other web sites. From 2011, we are working with partners IRUN Ltd (SEO company) and The Disc Directory, the UK's fastest growing online business feedback directory to boost our's and your web presence (www.thediscdirectory.co.uk).
What happens if I want to cancel my entry?
If you wish to cancel your entry it will be removed as soon as you let us know in writing (by email or post).
